…on why my career is so interesting…

If you were to tell me 4 years ago, while I was playing my guitar in a very successful NYC band that I would be in sales on this very day, I would have publicly rebuked you.  Today is much different.

The conversations I have with people are absolutely amazing.  Let me put it to you like this… I have conversations on a daily basis with the most incredible people in the United States.  I talk to real estate agents.  Doesn’t sound interesting? Ok, then how about this.  I met in San Diego a fellow who took my call a few weeks ago.  Why did he take my call? Because I work for the duPont REGISTRY.® Why does that matter? Because this agent is selling an 88 million dollar property. That wasn’t a typo.

Here’s how our business / conversation has evolved: I call (see above), he screens me in a very professional way because as you can imagine, there are a lot of people that have something to sell him.  He, in fact, is going to sell one of the country’s most coveted piece of properties.  Anyway… a week later, I am fortunate enough to attend the Who’s Who Conference in San Diego where he is there networking with other agents / brokers of the same caliber.  I walked up to him and introduced myself.  Obviously, he knew who I was from the prior call, and gave me a minute of his time.  With no expectation on my end, except a handshake, he proceeded to converse with me.  We talk about the property and other things… and I get back to St. Petersburg, FL.  I gave him a call today for no reason than I was thinking about an upcoming feature we are doing on the state of Colorado and I picked up the phone.  He answered, and we started to chat about things… what things, you ask… marketing of luxury properties, media, the beauty of certain high-end publication and how luxury properties necessitate their (high-end magazines) existence.… which brings me back to my focus of late – that of PRINT.

Here is a guy who has no reason to talk to me and doesn’t need to talk to me and was not entertaining me… I can assure you his time is much more valuable.  Agents that deal in the high-end market are not your every day agent.  If you look at the duPont REGISTRY A Buyers Gallery of Fine Homes® magazine and you flip through the pages, it takes a very bold agent to appear inside.  The magazine is, in and of itself a testament to the life of luxury.  The magazine doesn’t exist because the owners think it’s fun to print glossy paper and glue it together.  Nor do they do it for mere money.  Yes, I can assure you they do draw an income from the company, however the central theme is quality and content.  So… not only am I able to spend my days talking exclusively and independently to these agents, but I work for people who can speak of it’s nature (that of luxury) because they, in fact are of the same disposition.

p.s. the agent’s name is Bill Fandel and his website is www.tellurideluxuryproperties.com to see the slice of the American dream that is BootJack Ranch.
